It looks like the preliminary $3.6 million investment in The Block is heading to pay off very nicely.

This years Television creation of The Block TV has demonstrated the format will continue on to next season with huge ratings and thousands flocking to attend the open for inspections of the Richmond real estate.

Producers have very nicely mixed the common interests of realty and renovation pitting four couples against each other in a restoration showdown that’s chock a block full of ad placements from hardware stores through homewares, PC’s and even McDonalds somehow makes a play.

The producers secret formula is working very well and we’re in the final weeks of the series of the series are upon us. Now it’s the turn of the real estate agency franchises to shine. Jellis Craig, Biggin & Scott, Marshall White and Woodards are the lucky broker in the spotlight and it looks like win or lose on the day they’d going to keep listing properties for a long while off all the the media hype.

The TV audience will have to wat and see who wins this renovation competition. Will the contestants be able to maximise their exposure as well as the sponsors to go on and star in other areas?

This year saw the format change from contestants renovating units inside a single apartment block to renovating individual homes. The couples were also taken away from the actual job of renovating by the show’s host to compete in odd game show challenges that were often only thinly vailed ploys to show advertisers products that wouldn’t easily have been integrated into the normal format.

It’s rumoured that next year series will be filmed in Port Melbourne.

Rival Television show The Renovators is surely hoping that as  The Block finishes their very comparable format will fill the void for tv views craving more of this format.

Truth TV has come a long way and it’s a lot better that watching a tribe of teenagers in a house or questioning who’ll be next off the island, fired or eliminated.
